The Philosophy of Craftsmanship
Every step in the production of each umbrella is performed entirely within the Maglia workshop. There is no mass production and each umbrella, made from wood, iron and brass, is tailor-made for the customer.
FINEST ITALIAN HANDMADE UMBRELLAS
Ombrelli Maglia was founded by Francesco Maglia who himself started as an apprentice in 1850 at the age of just 14 in an umbrella factory in Montechiari near Brescia. Then from a small factory in Verolanuova he moved to Pavia and started his own business. In 1876, the company relocated to Milan. Tradition dictates that one son has always been called Francesco; and the current owner is the fifth Francesco to manage the business.
All umbrellas are assembled on a single shaft made with fine woods such as ash, chestnut, cherry, hazel and maple with a variety of handles in natural wood or leather.
